Welcome to Olive Phillips Kindergarten
Olive Phillips Kindergarten has educational programs for children aged between 3 and 5 years. The children are encouraged to explore the world around them, learn new skills in the arts, language, social, cognitive and physical development. The curriculum has an inquiry approach using theory and practice from Reggio Emilia , Steiner, Gardner, Piaget, Montessori, Vygotsky and Brunner. The program supports children's learning through meaningful project work. The children, their families and teachers all work together to create a community rich in knowledge, skills and attitudes.
The Staff of Olive Phillips Kindergarten are committed, passionate and professional and have extensive experience in all aspects of early childhood development. We believe in tailoring the program to meet the developmental needs and interests of each individual child in the program. We aim to help the children develop social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical (gross and fine motor) skills.
Some examples of the wonderful journeys the children have led us on this year and in previous years are as follows:
This year we are thrilled and very privileged to have been selected to participate in the Eco Cubby project (we are the only kindergarten in Victoria to participate). We have been working with a local architect to research, design and eventually build a cubby for our garden that embodies principles of sustainable living. The documentation of the pro cess and scale models will form part of the 2011 Sustainable Living Festival in Melbourne CBD.
